Michelle Pavia, 43, of Stamford, was killed around 9:45 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, after hitting a group of trees while snowmobiling in Maine, according to WGME ABC News 13.
“This is a tragic loss for the Pavia family and Stamford’s community," said Stamford Mayor David Martin. "I have called Mayor Pavia to express my condolences for his family. This a tremendous loss, and I wish the best for the Pavia family as they endure this tragedy.”
According to WGME, Pavia was riding on Ironbound Pond in Solon and was heading toward the shoreline when she drove off the ice, struck the shoreline was ejected into the treeline.
Pavia died at the scene.
